Why the name “Blue Sky”?

The term “Blue Sky Thinking” is defined as original or creative thinking. As “blue thinkers”, it is our goal to make sustainability irresistible to the general public by offering the next level of innovative products and services. Blue promotes learning about the choices you make and how they affect the world.

What does “sustainability” mean?

The most popular definition of sustainability can be traced to a 1987 UN conference. It defined sustainable developments as those that “meet present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs“. To take it one step further, at Blue Sky Design Supply we believe that sustainability is a way of living that balances immediate needs (food, transportation, shelter, etc.) with support the needs of Mother Nature and future generations.

We take great pride in being able to provide our clients and the general public with an opportunity for a tactile experience with innovative, eco-friendly products.

Does Blue Sky offer interior design services?

Yes, Blue Sky has a rapport with many design professionals in the community. Along with our partners, we can help coordinate your commercial design needs. Moreover, we have an in-house interior designer to help with residential projects. We provide professional and knowledgeable assistance with layout, color palettes, and decorating. Does Blue Sky provide installation services?

No, but we do have relationships with a host of contractors to help you with your installation needs.

Does Blue Sky offer training or learning opportunities?

As a sought-after speaker, our founder Tyra Johnson has routinely conducted training programs for professionals in the construction industry over the last four years. She has been a featured presenter at the Buffalo Small Business Development Center’s Contractor Development Program. Tyra has also presented several times to architecture and design firms on the benefits and accessibility of green construction materials.

Ms. Johnson and her knowledgeable staff are available for speaking engagements. We provide classes and workshops in a variety of settings including offices, schools, and community organizations. Clients may choose from among our current offerings or work with us to develop a program suited to their particular interests and needs.
